Instructional Coach

I am available to you all anytime of the day or night! :) LOL, I'm kind of joking, but not really... I am a social media junky so you truly can reach out to me via email at [email protected], Seesaw, Google Classroom, Twitter (@bekahflora), facebook, or facebook messenger. If you reach out I will answer you back as quickly as I can, but do keep in mind that I'll be playing teacher mom to a 2nd grader and PK student of my own for the next little bit. If you need a resource, an idea, an answer, or anything else please feel free to reach out and I'll see what I can do. It is my honor and pleasure to serve our school in any way that I can, especially during this time of uncertainty. Please check out some resources that I've gathered below, and check back for updates when you can.

Virtual Science Showcase
Even though our 4th Annual Science Showcase didn't happen as planned, we are STILL excited to share these amazing videos with you. Our students stepped up to the plate and turned our Science Showcase into a digital format without missing a beat. Check out the work these students did - I guarantee you you'll learn something!

Virtual Living History Museum
Our Living History Museum will be a little different this year, but it will be amazing as it always is! Students submitted videos of their work and you can view them all here. Some students still used their costumes, but some traded that in for visual presentations using Google Slides and uploaded with voice over using Screencastify. I am so proud of these students for going the extra EXTRA mile in getting this done. A little grit and some new technology is allowing us to share the awesome things we learned with the Boones Mill School community.

Here's a link to my Google Classroom. Students who normally come with me for PowerUp are already in there, but other students are not. However, ANYONE is welcome to join in - just send me an email if you'd like the code to get in. I have materials posted there that we have used in our lessons and will continue to post some links to things that you might find interesting. All information about the Living History Museum and our BMES Science Showcase can be found there. Those two events will have to be drastically different than we had planned, BUT we've got a plan to make it work! Check out the link below for details.

During the time we are not able to be physically present with one another, the Gifted Department realizes parents/guardians may need additional resources for their students at home. Here are some websites you might find useful to challenge your student with at-home learning. Be sure to check out the site ahead of time to make sure it is appropriate for your child’s age and skill level.

YouTube is filled with amazing educational opportunities if you know where to look! Here are two playlists that you might enjoy. School House Rock is a series of educational songs that first started in 1973, premiering between regularly schedule cartoons. From history to math to science to language arts, this series has it covered. The second playlist is from Storyline Online a great resource of books that you can hear read aloud by your favorite celebrities. It's a fun way to enjoy listening to books with some pretty familiar voices (think Anna from Frozen and more!).

You can go in and set up an account to access countless lessons to build reading, language, and math skills. Adventure Academy also has science and math resources as well. To access, click on the picture below (I would say ABC Mouse is for the younger students, maybe grades PK-2 and Adventure Academy is for the older students, maybe grades 2-5 but that is completely just my opinion, so use what your kiddo likes best) and enter the code SCHOOL7771 to get free access.
