Kindergarten Registration 2020-2021 School Year

Franklin County Public Schools will conduct Kindergarten registration differently this year due to the impact of the Coronavirus. Online registration for the county ended on May 7, 2020.   Registrations after that date can be conducted by contacting the elementary school office.  We can either email you forms to be completed and then returned electronically OR we can arrange paper copies to be picked up or mailed to you for completion. 

Students entering Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year must be five (5) years old on/or before September 30, 2020 as per Virginia State Regulations regarding Kindergarten entrance age.


Parents and/or guardians will need to submit the following documents electronically or in person:

  1. Child’s birth certificate
  2. Child’s physical (Must be completed within the last 12 month prior to the first day of school)
  3. Child’s immunization records
  4. Documents for proof of residence (see proof of residency form)


If you wish to apply for out of zone attendance, your home school will provide you with information or respond to any questions you may have.  Please contact the school located in your assigned school zone for questions.  Parents or guardians may contact the Franklin County Public Schools’ Transportation Department to determine their school zone assignment at (540) 483-5541.
